Young Leonard combines vintage hip-hop sounds with meaningful lyrics to tell unique stories. His musical influences range from Eminem's "The Slim Shady" LP to Greenday's "Insomniac". After leaving Berlin to seek his fortune in Groningen, the Netherlands, he connected with the hip-hop collective Northern Lights. Two of the members, Mumbay and A.D.K., can be heard on the "Issues" EP. The EP was composed and written in Montpellier, France, where Young Leonard lived for a while.
