NEWS - "Tough kid" - SKYE WALLACE's Single/Video Out Now

"'Tough Kid' signifies the death of my fears. The fear of what other people think. The fear of going all in. The fear of embodying my full self out loud. Co-producing and writing with Hawksley Workman gave me the space to step into my power. We wanted this song to be all-at-once massive, swaggering, and grinding. A sonic representation of that invitation to be your most confident self. I also wanted to keep the live show in mind, to have that electric energy interwoven.

At the end of last year, I was completely burnt out. Coming into this next chapter of new music, armed with concepts, desires, and collaborators who re-lit my fire, I had an image of this kid in my head that I was pumping up, who represents anyone who has been told they aren’t allowed, that they aren't good enough. It was only when we were designing the single artwork, which involved using an old photo of me at 10 years old, that I realized I had also been talking to my weird kid self."
