NEWS - TAXOLOGY | A psychedelic journey through botanical nomenclature and cinematic soundscapes: the first glimpse of Taxology’s debut album

Taxology was formed in Taranto, southern Italy, in 2024 by two remarkably young musicians, Andrea Rizzi (born 2007) and Giuseppe Bitonte (born 2006), who first met while studying at music high school. Their sound blends psychedelic influences with cinematic atmospheres, built around a conceptual framework that draws on botanical classification as a metaphor for inner states of mind.
Mandragora Caulescens, the album's third track, introduces listeners to the imaginary garden at the centre of the record: a space suspended between dream and reality, where each composition takes its name from botanical nomenclature and becomes part of a musical herbarium. Here, taxonomy — the science that classifies living organisms — becomes a poetic framework, organising emotions and states of consciousness within a coherent sonic ecosystem.
Recorded, produced, arranged and mixed by Andrea Rizzi in his home studio in Taranto, the single reflects the project's intimate and exploratory approach to sound. The track was written by Andrea Rizzi and Giuseppe Bitonte and features the narrated voice of Bruno Vergani, guiding listeners through Taxology's imagined world. Elio Di Menza handled mastering.
