Sugii” is the first single of Benjamin Herman's upcoming trio production The Tokyo Sessions, out in March 2026 on P-Vine (Japan) and Roach Records / Dox Records (ROW). The single is an ode to Koichi Sugii — the visionary Japanese jazz composer, arranger, accordionist, and bandleader whose pioneering work shaped Japan’s pre-war jazz scene before his untimely passing in 1942. The track reimagines his spirit in today’s sonic landscape, blending textured samples with the trio's live takes into a Jimmi Jo Hueting's signature production echoing Tokyo's vibrant streets. The track was recorded at Studio Dede, Tokyo as part of The Tokyo Sessions recordings including Otomo Yoshihide and Tomoaki Baba amongst others.
