The Ides of March is an expression that refers to a day in the ancient Roman calendar that falls on March 15 and is associated with misfortune and doom. On March 15, 44 BC, Julius Caesar was assassinated, and the date is immortalized in Shakespeare's play based on the life of the Roman dictator, where the soothsayer Spurinna warns Caesar that he should "beware the Ides of March.”

”With Fascism once again an active threat to the entire world, it is everyone’s duty to resist, protest, oppose. And if we fight together as one, Fascism will lose. And don’t heed warnings that resistance is futile, it is not. This song is a call to stand up in solidarity, to unite in the service of humanity, to fight for justice, equality and human rights."

Linger was originally a duo consisting of brothers Tomas Juto and Tony Lind, but with Christopher Broman Tak in the lineup, the band is now a trio.
The members' musical taste is eclectic, and the band's rock music contains a distinctly cinematic soundscape aspect. Linger enjoys collaborating on crossover projects with other creators in different art forms, especially in the visual arts. Their name is taken from a quote in Spike Lee's film 25th Hour starring Edward Norton. "I haven't had a drink in two years, but I'll have one with you, one last whiskey with my boy. Take our time with it, taste the barley, let it linger. And then I'll go."

Linger has previously been compared to bands such as Foo Fighters, The Strokes and Smashing Pumpkins, and describes their music as cinematic indie rock with a twist.
