This one’s been with me for more than twenty years, born during one of the toughest winters of my life. Most of the lyrics came together on a Christmas trip to Montana in 2003, and again during the 2004 season when I was staying with my brother in Connecticut. The main guitar riff and piano sections were written in Nashville around the same time.

I didn’t return to the song until this year, when I finally felt ready, and when I could produce it the way I envisioned.
