"I wrote this song while I was exploring Early Maladaptive Schemas with my therapist, and learning a lot about behavior patterns that we develop in early childhood. At the same time, I was going through some misalignment in my personal life with a partner, and the idea coalesced about how our patterns we learn influence us in life and in partnership. This song came from my process of coming to terms with some of my own patterns, as well as asking the people I love to have patience with me as I try to learn and grow through and from them. Also – I was listening to a lot of Bonnie Raitt when writing this and was becoming very obsessed with her soulful writing and chord progressions!"
