NEWS - Pick Up Goliath new single “Hope is a Hell of a Drug”
Following the award-winning Hymns of the Unholy and the conceptual metal symphony "Artificial Ascendency", this new release moves in a very different direction, focusing on a more personal and introspective subject. "Salt & Static" explores men’s mental health through the collision of physical sensation and intrusive thought, something I’ve experienced firsthand.
“Hope is a Hell of a Drug” centres on the cyclical nature of depression, and the idea that hope itself can become addictive, keeping you locked in patterns of expectation, disappointment, and emotional burnout. It’s easily the most honest piece of music I’ve released, and one that felt important to put out into the world.
Musically, the track blends modern metalcore aggression with cinematic atmosphere, synth-driven textures, and strong melodic hooks, with subtle Spanish-influenced harmonic elements shaping its emotional tone.
