NEWS - ''pas de signal'' is a Quebec-based trio blending krautrock pulses, raw synths, and hypnotic grooves

Born between Kamouraska and Montreal, the project of Joël Nadeau-Gauthier builds repetitive, architectural, and organic soundscapes, where rock and electronic textures merge into a cinematic experience. The band first single ''Quel ami'' is accompanied by a music video directed by filmmaker David B. Ricard. The upcoming album, 13h07, will be released on November 21, 2025. After a self-titled debut album in 2023, pas de signal returns with a sharper sound, an avalanche of synths shot on Super 8 film, where textures and motorik rhythms fight for the spotlight. The explosive single “Quel ami” showcases a bold new sonic direction while preserving the project’s foundational kraut and experimental (Kosmische Musik) spirit. The piece opens by marking the pulse, a minimal percussion pattern over which a melancholic, jazz-tinged bass settles. Then come the dusty analog synthesizers and the misty voice of Joël Nadeau-Gauthier, delivering disenchanted lyrics. The track soon fractures into a majestic, maximalist stack of synthesizers, fully aligned with the music video’s multilayered and abrasive textures.
