NEWS - Nieuwe Release: Hard-Fi - Sweating Someone Else's Fever

Having won the world over 20 years ago with their state-of-the-nation social commentary and endless capacity for an insatiable banger, there’s perhaps no more fitting time than now for Staines’ most famous sons Hard-Fi to be returning with their first new studio album in 15 years: ‘Sweating Someone Else’s Fever’. Look at the litany of boarded-up high streets populating the UK’s small towns, or at a young generation increasingly priced out of a good time, and the outlook that’s always been entrenched in the band seems more prescient than ever. “At the time when we were writing ‘Stars of CCTV’, I always used to feel like we were somehow locked out from this other life that was going on and we weren't allowed in. But imagine if you’re a young person now?” frontman Richard Archer asks. “You’re sitting there and thinking, ‘How am I ever going to do anything?’ It’s such a mad future to look at.”

Produced by Archer and Wolsey White (‘Stars…’)  and recorded across 2025 in the same studio, Cherry Lips, that they’ve worked in from those very first days, there was no shortage of lyrical fuel to be stoking the frontman’s fires. ‘Sweating Someone Else’s Fever’ looks outside the window - to the “lost future” that promised connection and possibility and dreams, but soon trapped most of us even tighter - and paints it in bold musical strokes that twist the band’s familiar swagger into new shapes. It feels like a Part Two of sorts to their incendiary debut. “The first Hard-Fi album was all about trying to go ‘Oi, over here!’, whereas this is trying to understand what’s happening a little bit more,” Archer says. “You always like to think that bullies and shysters and crooks will get their comeuppance, and instead they get enriched. It’s just not right! I don’t know if that makes me a centrist dad or not…”
