NEWS - NEW SINGLE! PROGRESSIVE ROCK from LIGHTS OF SKADI (Sweden)
With influences from progressive metal bands (including Haken, and Swedish colleagues Meshuggah and Opeth), as well as Dream Theater, Pink Floyd, King Crimson a.o., the three multi-instrumentalists Jörgen André, Jesper Jansson, and Martin Ragnarsson formed Lights Of Skadi in 2017. In 2019, the Swedish label COMEDIA signed the three extremely talented young musicians and released their 25 minutes and 43 seconds long debut single Time. In their review of the single the English music blog Nordic Music Central noted that "If anyone doubts that progressive rock isn’t still alive and kicking in Sweden this is the ultimate proof”.
The debut album Shimmer, full of highly accomplished progressive instrumental rock, followed the single. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic made touring impossible, and in 2020, Martin Ragnarsson decided to step down from the band. Shortly afterward, Jesper Jansson followed him…
But Jörgen André – with a little help from his friends and guest musicians Mattias IA Eklundh (Freak Kitchen, Jonas Hellborg a.o.), Andy Gillion (ex-Mors Prinicipium Est), Polina Faustova, Cesar Ambrosini, Alexander Borger, Carl Sjursvens, TheSaxPilot, as well as Jesper Jansson from the original line up – decided to continue working with the music project himself. And now, finally, Lights Of Skadi are back again!
