Who is Chip Pirrs?
Chip Pirrs (b. New York City) is a boundary‑pushing alt‑electronic/pop artist known for weaving experimental and avant‑garde soundscapes into deeply layered, cinematic music. Rooted in the traditions of Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails, and the sonic textures of Underworld, Beirut, Prince, The-Dream, and Frank Ocean, Chip’s sound is a rich tapestry of influences. He crafts his songs through meticulous loop‑based production: starting with drum tones and synth or piano motifs, layering textured arrangements, and then adding vocals to heighten the emotional resonance.
His recent singles serve as the centerpiece of his forthcoming album, Places I’ve Left Myself. A three‑year personal odyssey, the album channels experiences and growth from travels and transformative moments, exploring the emotional landscapes left behind. Working closely with producer and mentor Josh Valleau, Chip has honed his writing, composing, arranging, and production skills throughout the album’s creation.
