I wrote this song ( Looking for the right things) many moons ago. So long ago that it was actually one of the first songs intended for “Another Place to Need,” but we couldn’t get the production right. I kept returning to it over the years, trying new approaches, until I finally found the one that felt good, despite sounding nothing like I initially imagined. It’s a cute little metaphor for what the song is about — the impossibility of ever really getting it all right and the compulsion to keep trying anyways. Imperfection as honesty, a frustrating necessity of real ~connection~. Most songs I’ve sat on for this long I start to hate, but I still love this one as much as I did the first day
