The stage name Maria Lumen already contains her artistic vision. It refers to her given name, Christina Maria Liechti: Maria derives from mare – the sea – and lumen means light. Thus, the name symbolically stands for making hidden, deep layers visible – for filling dark spaces with light.
Maria Lumen is a musician, singer-songwriter, and producer. In her work, she combines voice, various instruments, and an intuitive sonic language into multi-layered musical spaces. Ambient is only one part of her artistic output, whose depth is rooted in the impressive biography of Maria Lumen.
The versatile artist from Bern has worked as a circus performer, graphic designer, workshop leader, and dance educator, and supports people in creative and musical processes. Since 2025, she has also been reaching a steadily growing community through her weekly livestreams on YouTube, where she regularly invites her audience on intuitive musical journeys.
With "Longing", she continues this path consistently. The song speaks of a deep longing that is experienced less through words than through sound, voice, and atmosphere. A characteristic element of her productions is also the integration of natural sounds and animal voices.
