Inside The Sickened Mind by Thrasherwolf
News

Thrasherwolf’s debut album, We Are Revolution, emerged into a world living in the shadow of the global pandemic, issuing its baleful howl into a society wracked with fear. Ramped up on frustration and adrenaline We Are Revolution was a welcome blast of fury that showed that Thrasherwolf were a band with passion, integrity and huge potential. Now, four years on, with human society still lurching from one crisis to the next, the wolves have returned and smashed through the ceiling of even their most ardent fans’ expectations. Inside The Sickened Mind is an awesome display of real thrash metal, with a broader scope, a more focussed vision and a devastating array of new weaponry. Every aspect of the Thrasherwolf attack has stepped up to the next level – from the superb individual performances to the gritty, organic sound, the battery of magnificent, irresistible riffs to the searing solos that are integral parts of the songs they adorn to the confident, expressive vocals. But what really sets Inside The Sickened Mind apart from the competition is the songs…Thrasherwolf have outdone themselves here. Opening shot ‘Final Act Of Aggression’ bleeds thrash spirit from every pore, while ‘G.B.H. (Gratuitous Bodily Harm) is a collision of Bay Area chugging muscle and demented speed and ‘Scream Til Death’ is an instant classic with its Metallica touched riffing, brilliant bass break and aura of accomplished maturity. Every song demands a headbanging response but they also have a carefully constructed topography – musical landmarks that seal the sonic journey in your mind; melodic progressions, wicked hooks, outstanding choruses, moments of utter class. From the teeth-grinding, brass knuckle pit action of ‘Shameless Loser’ to the dark melodies of thrash ballad ‘Haunted’ every song delivers more than you could ever have hoped for. And it’s left to the album’s closing, title track to demonstrate that there is still a well of huge potential for Thrasherwolf to explore. This multi-faceted epic is musically imaginative and hugely ambitious…but it works and provides a breathtaking end to a shockingly good album of masterful thrash metal.
Inside The Sickened Mind was recorded with Andy Brook at The Brook Studios (Status Quo, Subhumans, Restarts etc) and mastered by Patrick W Engel (Candlemass, Destruction, Sodom etc) and that prestigious team has given Thrasherwolf the perfect sound for this magnificent set of songs. When Inside The Sickened Mind is released on October 4th, with a special cassette edition to follow in November via Vicious Witch Records, the whole thrash scene is going to sit up and take notice. With Thrasherwolf’s crazed mascot, Frank, brought to life on the front cover by Andrei Bouzikov (Municipal Waste, Nervosa, Autopsy etc), Inside The Sickened Mind is simply unmissable, essential thrash!
