His latest release, The Return of the Captain, is a solo project that began during lockdown when the band couldn't meet and a more meditative and expansive style of writing developed. Early influences are evident here: Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, JJ Cale, Planxty, Joni Mitchell,Howlin' Wolf, Pink Floyd, Bert Jansch, and Nina Simone.
