BED is a Berlin-based band founded by Argentine bassist Sol Astolfi and Chilean vocalist Nicolás Astorga in 2021. After their initial experiments and writing sessions, they invited German guitarist Ema Schiller to join the project. At its core, BED is a queer music project, with a sound rooted in shoegaze, dream pop, and post-punk. Their lyrics are sad and sexual, weaving threads of both vulnerability and desire, creating a body of work that challenges normative creative expression. This is reflected in the vocals, which are intentionally ambiguous, representing a fluid identity throughout the album. Inspired by musicians such as Liz Harris (Grouper), Kevin Shields (My Bloody Valentine), Elizabeth Fraser (Cocteau Twins), Courtney Love (Hole), and Bowery Electric, the band brings together iconic elements of the '90s scene, enriched with atmospheric textures and influences from Berlin’s rave culture. everything hurts is the title of their debut album and single, released in 2023. In this album, BED shares something deeply personal, precious emotions kept hidden within failed love stories and broken affections, needing to be released in the form of melancholic tracks. everything hurts is a delicate yet gritty production, loud yet dramatic, aimed at a sensitive audience, those in search of deep melodies and autobiographical confessions, layered with post-processed vocals and punchy electronic beats, blended with melodic elements of shoegaze and dream pop.
everything hurts will be released on May 23, 2025, on Bretford Records.
