Michael Isaak is an emerging artist, songwriter, and oud player based in New York City. The Egyptian-American pinned his genre as “Arabesque folk,” a sound shaped by guitar-driven songwriting and traditional Arab instrumentation. The oud is featured as a central instrument in Isaak’s album The Carpet Maker, which reflects on the diaspora experience and explores what cultural identity can sound like.
