Drug Store Raid are part of a new Helsinki guitar underground where post-punk, art rock and noise still sound dangerous.

With "Ernie Playing Blues", Drug Store Raid are not simply returning to the mood or method of their debut. The new single pushes their sound into something bigger, harder and more uneasy. From the start, the band saw it as the right opening statement for this new phase.

"Ernie Playing Blues is a striking opening move in a new direction. It pulls you in straight away, and it says a lot about where we're headed. The debut was an important record for us, but this time it feels like we've made something even stronger," says singer and guitarist Otto Pirttiperä.

If the debut captured the loose energy of a young band moving on instinct, the new material suggests a group whose identity has sharpened fast. Drug Store Raid sound more focused, more forceful and more self-assured now, without losing the tension and unpredictability that made their first record stand out.

In mood, "Ernie Playing Blues" and the forthcoming album move between hedonism and cynicism. There is joy, release and momentum in the music, but also friction, unease and a sense of controlled threat beneath the surface. If the debut often felt like basement music, the new material feels more exposed to the elements. It burns, storms and refuses to settle.

"Ernie Playing Blues" makes it clear that Drug Store Raid have found a stronger direction for album two. They sound alive, deliberate and difficult to pin down in a way that feels entirely of the moment.
