Inspired by Chet Baker and Amy Winehouse, and with a soulful pop tone that also makes references to Olivia Dean, Swedish singer and guitarist Flora Smith creates her own expression. Her first singles have been praised by several international music blogs, including the English Nordic Music Control, Music of the Future, Concert Monkey and Scandinavian Soul. After having interpreted both The Beatles and the Velvet Underground – and been to a guitar clinic with the multiple Grammy-nominated guitarist Robben Ford (Joni Mitchell, Miles Davis a.o) – she today releases her debut album The Concept of Love.

Flora Smith has written and co-produced all the tracks on the album. The song Thinking of You, which was released as the first single, she wrote when she was seventeen.
“After working on this project for more than five years, it now feels incredibly good to finally be able to share it with others,” says Flora Smith. “I am very proud and excited that it is finally out there!”

As the title reveals, the entire album is about love in different stages. From expectations to a broken heart to moving on.
“Love is a theme that I have always had close to my heart. I only write songs about things that I can personally relate to.”
“All my songs come straight from the heart.”

Musically, Flora Smith moves freely, with influences from both pop and soul as well as jazz. In addition to her debut single Thinking of You, the album also includes her blue-toned singles Autumn Blue and the beautiful Angels are crying – and of course the title track The Concept of Love.

“Some voices don’t just sing; they speak to you... Flora’s sound lands somewhere between timeless and refreshingly new… In an age where AI can churn out ‘authenticity’ in seconds, Flora’s music reminds us why human emotions can’t be faked.  Flora Smith isn’t just an artist to watch – she’s one to hold close.”

Flora Smith is a new, young, and exceptionally talented Swedish artist from Stockholm who creates music with heart. Inspired by an eclectic mix of pop, jazz, and soul, Flora Smith creates music with a warm, but melancholic tone that captures emotions and moods”

“Flora is fast developing her own style to the point where you know that you are listening to her the moment you hear her voice. There can be no mistaking it. It is as individual as Sade was… She assuredly has a big future in front of her.“
