BURN unveil their trip-hop infused debut album ‘Chopped and Shattered’, via Bezdech Records, alongside focus track ‘Late’, with the support of Kultur | lx – Arts Council Luxembourg. Built around deep basslines, immersive textures, and emotionally driven vocals, BURN’s debut album moves between introspection, tension, and release. Drawing on the sonic aesthetics of the 1990s and influences such as William Orbit and Kosheen, the record channels the slow-burning intensity of classic trip-hop textures while pushing it into a modern electronic landscape. Fans of Portishead and darker alternative electronica will find much to appreciate in BURN’s immersive sonic world. The album’s focus track, ‘Late’, captures its emotional core. A high-energy electronic anthem exploring the finality of a broken relationship, the track is driven by an industrial-edged beat that evolves from atmospheric melancholy into a defiant rhythmic release. Balancing darkness with strength, it reflects the album’s central themes of loss, transformation, and self-liberation. The accompanying video extends this narrative into a visual form. It follows a protagonist caught in the emotional aftermath of a relationship, initially held back by a sense of restraint before gradually reclaiming control. As tension builds, the visuals mirror this inner shift through dynamic editing and fragmented sequences, culminating in a moment of release that echoes the track’s intensity and underlying theme of self-liberation. Developed in close collaboration between Ewa Baran (Holy Høly) and Andrew Bulloch (TabInStereo), the video translates the track’s emotional arc into a visceral, cinematic experience
Chopped and Shattered, features nine trip-hop and industrial tracks.
