Since Once (Talitres, 2021), the French-Australian duo have cultivated a refined, sunlit, timeless style of their own. Please, Wait…, recorded with musicians from the Nancy Opera and Conservatory, established them in 2024 as major pop songwriters. On stage, whether performing as a quintet or in a stripped-down format, Maxwell Farrington’s wit and the band’s elegance continue to win over longtime listeners and newcomers alike. |

Support has also come from figures who know the territory well: Iggy Pop on BBC 6 Music, and Paul Weller, both on his European tours and later when he invited Christophe Vaillant to Abbey Road Studios during the recording of 66. |

It was only natural, then, that the duo should turn to England for this new record. Window Tax was recorded in Margate with Mike Lindsay, co-founder of Tunng and recipient of the Mercury Prize in 2009 for his production work on Speech Debelle’s Speech Therapy. |
