Gdhio Oihdg's review-
My first LoneLady gig since 5 years to the day tomorrow and i'm pleased that the groove picked up from where it left off.
Whilst Campbell's sound undoubtedly draws from the north west - think Quango Quango, A Certain Ratio - there's an atlantic sound there as well; the funk-groove tones of Afrika Bambaataa and Esg influence every bit as much. Based on tonight, her new album sounds more textured and refined than her wonderful debut but it sounds like its fully of similarly great grooves and riffs. It's been worth the long wait. The Louis was rightfully rammed full tonight and it's obvious that her time is now - even with the prospect of the twilight sad hitting the fleece next week, I don't expect to do a better gig this year. Wonderful!
