It's difficult seeing friends succumb to addiction. A double entendre, "Cellar" juxtaposes the perspective of the 'cellar' who provides refuge with the 'seller,' or enabler, who doesn't have someone's best interests at heart. The droning guitar in the last chorus is in homage to Placebo's "Every You Every Me," from their album Without You I'm Nothing, which addresses a similar theme.
