BIO
Four friends. Four characters. Colorful. WITVROUW stands for an organic mix of sound, poetry and atmospheres from different musical galaxies. With lots of room for improvisation, groove and roots from jazz, blues and funk.
Those four characters? They are quite something. WITVROUW consists of Simon Witvrouw (Mojostar, Billie Kawende), Joachim Saerens (Selah Sue, Bai Kamara Jr.), Dre Pallemaerts (Novastar, Melanie De Biasio) and Bart Borremans (Naima Joris, Lucid Lucia). The WITVROUW men met each other at the Lemmensinstituut in Leuven, became good friends and after many projects over the years, they decided to establish WITVROUW together. Each with their own character and colour that when they interact you get a blend of funk, afro, jazz, blues, roots, pop and reggae. "WITVROUW could never be WITVROUW without the combination, experiences and influences of all four of us", says inspirator Simon Witvrouw.
In 2012, Simon Witvrouw made his debut with his band Mojostar. Looking back on the experience of recording that album (under contract to record company Quest 4), he feels today more than ever that he wants to be in control of the whole process himself. To be able to stand and stay closer to himself.
WITVROUW - the name of his new band - was therefore a logical choice. On 28 October, WITVROUW releases its eponymous debut album to the world. Before that, the band released two singles: ‘Start To Believe’ en ‘Much Closer’.
