«The Painter» is a song about a guy who tries to be everything he's not, in order to get a girl who's probably not good for him
«The Painter» is the first track taken from Stian Borgen's forthcoming debut album as a solo artist. Borgen has been passionately fascinated by roots music since his childhood, and the music that is now finally on its way was written over a period of fifteen years. Borgen writes, produces and arranges the music himself, music that can be described as a stamp of time; a personal, inner journey, where identity, falling in love, longing, worry and youthful courage belongs.
"We struggle so hard to try to be someone and find ourselves," Stian describes . "Yet we often end up with a polished facade that is much grayer and sadder than our innermost self. Just what is it that we are so afraid of all the time? «The Painter» is terrified, and tries to be everything he is not in order to get a girl who is probably not good for him", Stian explains about the song's theme.
«The Painter» feels timeless, authentic and soulful. The song is propelled by infectious hooks, Borgen's story-telling vocals and a sparingly - but oh so effective - percussion, signed by Øystein Bergsvik (Nora Noor, Frida Ånnevik).
The full album will be available in the fall of 2024.
