NEWS - St Petersburg Art Rockers The Star Of Ishtar release delectably dark debut 'Venus Invicta'
The Star of Išhtar consists of Ada Sargatis (vocals, songwriting, synthesizers, programming) and Andrei Ushakov (guitars, programming) featuring session musicians. Dark aesthetics, the powerful archetypal roots of our past and the heritage of ancient cultures are likely to be the key elements of the project’s DNA. The project members metaphorically refer to their style as “tamed insanity”.
Among their musical influences, they name: darkwave, early goth rock, rock ballads, traditional music of Northern Africa, Sakhel and some other regions.
They are currently based in Saint Petersburg, Russia.
In many ways, The Star of Išhtar follows the path of Ada Sargatis’ previous solo works, bringing it to the next level. In 2019 she released Reflections EP (a dark and magically-infused collection of 5 songs); in 2016 she published her book of poems on dark feminine and female embodied experience.
