NEWS - Laughing Stock from Tønsberg (N) returns with their 5th album next month!
Norway's best-kept secret, art-rockers Laughing Stock, are changing things up on their fifth album. A literal celebration of music, through music, is what Songs for the Future is all about. The joy of discovering music that touches you and changes you, is something we all have known. This joy permeates every song on this album. The music you discover when you are young, can form you and your perceptions of the world. They can, in some ways, shape your future - hence the title of this album.
The music that shaped the guys in Laughing Stock, tends to be the more eclectic and playful music of the 1980s. It is not coincidential that XTCs Colin Moulding appears as a guest artist here. The spirit of XTC lurks under the surface of many of the songs here. And of course, being Laughing Stock, there are also elements of progressive rock here. Thus, two more prominent guest appearances are also not surprising: Colin Bass of Camel and Billy Sherwood of Yes.
As usual the band consists of Jan Mikael Sørensen, Håvard Enge and Jan Erik Kirkevold Nilsen. The album is produced and mixed by Jan M. Sørensen with help from the rest of the band and is mastered by Jacob Holm-Lupo.
