NEWS - Bantunani and Misato "Masculin"

Two years after the success of the album "Cosmogony", of which four singles came close to a million views, Bantunani, the Afrofunk star, is making a double comeback by not only offering his 15th solo album, " Anthropic", but also presenting "Disconnect" the very first album from Misato, her multi-instrumentalist children. These young talents, who attended the conservatories of Kinshasa, Casablanca and Orléans, have accompanied their father for more than a decade, on stage and in his creations, thus creating a sort of "family affair". Announced for October 28 under his label Blackninja Publishing, these albums offer two intersecting perspectives: the funky and vindictive groove of the father versus the colorful electro-disco pop of the children, imbued with manga culture. The first three singles revealed leave us in little doubt as to the desire to celebrate dance through music tinged with live and improvisation. Bantunani takes us into a new universe exploring a dark electro trip-hop territory with “Young Blood”. At the same time, Misato offers us an irresistible electro-disco hit with "Young and Free", an explosion of energy and joy. Continuity rather than rupture: the famous London mixers Sefi Carmel and Sam Wheat were able to ensure a certain harmony in production.

In Bantunani's latest musical offering, "Masculin," we find ourselves entwined in a captivating blend of electro-rock and tango, skillfully weaving elements of French musical heritage with a contemporary twist. Drawing inspiration from the timeless charm of Mistinguett's "C'est Mon Homme," Bantunani creates a sonic landscape that pulsates with a strange yet alluring sensuality.

The song delves into the intricate dynamics of the relationship between man and woman, navigating the turbulent waters of desire, passion, and even hints of violence with a deft touch. Through "Masculin," Bantunani showcases a newfound maturity in both his composition and lyricism, offering listeners a glimpse into the depths of his artistry. From the haunting beauty of the guitars to the enigmatic allure of the bassline, every element of the track is meticulously crafted to draw the listener into its irresistible embrace. The infusion of African and Latin percussion further enhances the song's irresistible charm, beckoning us to succumb to the seductive rhythms of the tango. In "Masculin," Bantunani pays homage to the musical giants of the past while forging his own path forward. Echoes of 80's icons like INXS and Status Quo reverberate throughout the track, lending it a nostalgic yet distinctly contemporary flair. And in Bantunani's vocal delivery, one can detect traces of Elvis Presley's iconic intonations, adding another layer of depth to the song's rich tapestry. But perhaps what sets "Masculin" apart is Bantunani's playful engagement with his audience. With each note and lyric, he invites us to join him on a journey of self-discovery and exploration, daring us to embrace the complexities of human emotion.
