THE KLEEJOSS BAND : « La Villa Modesta » (2015)

Well after the recent discovery of the absolutely brilliant « River Sound Unleashed » album from the Kleejoss Band I decided to travel back in time and dig in their discography to learn more about this talented Spanish four pieces group. So, it's Wednesday afternoon and the temperature rises above the 30 degrees wich is very uncommon in Belgium at this time of the year, well, let's play this first full album of our Spanish favs.

01.Villa Modesta :
Means « small town » in English, it's a classical 70's hard rock tune with a very nice whammy guitar solo. This small town is a kind of sanctuary where bad boys have no place to stay, so be nice or…

02.Everything Runs :
This songs reminds me the « Toys in the Attic » blessed era from Aerosmith with a very nice bottleneck guitar solo. It's a love song, there are several on this album, a simple and very clear message : nothing is impossible when your beloved one is at your side.

03.Eternity In Hell :
A love story too but not with a happy ending this time in this classic Rock'n'Roll tune. It's said to the guillty one that he can burn in hell forever. No compassion here.

04.Dandelion :
A superb electric-acoustic love ballad. The famous Dandelion flower is an allegory of the one you love, the one that we sometimes let slip away from our clumsy hands but his/her spirit always remains  present, like if it was floating in the air. Listen to the « I know that you're everything » motto. My favourite track of the album.

Now it's time to go to the U.S.A for three typical songs

05.The Ballad of a Working Class Man :
It's a song of hope in a world where there's...no hope to escape your social condition. You'll have to take your chance when the big wheel will turn for you. Very well written everyday song by the Kleejoss Band.

06.Susquehanna Valley Summertimes :
The longest northeast American river is the subject of this pure 70's style Rock. Even when the place you live is not that funny and that you leave for another place, there's always a time you'll need to come back to your roots and see those long time friends you left. Very nice guitar/keyboard solo at the end of the song, very beautiful lyrics too.

07.Your Wedding Dress :
A Hank Marvin-like sounding guitar for this third step of our U .S. trip. A more country mood for this pretty one. Another ...love song in which a very patient guy is rewarded when he finally marries the girl he was waiting for .

08.Drops In The Sea :
It's is not always necessary to accomplish big things each time you do something. Very often, small actions put together have a big impact on you. Many drops of water make big rivers. Nice tune.

09.Incomplete & Helpless man
This time, love is about the very close relation that interracts on the people who really love each other. At some moments you can clearly see the blink of an eye to the guitar theme from Pink Floyd's « Fearless ».

10.No Glam in Rock'n'Roll :
Here's a typical Rock'n'Roll à la AC-DC, very energetic with the guitar at the forefront to warn you that even if it seems that It might be glam, everything that glitters is not necessary...gold !

11.The Sky Over The Dunes :
Superb electric-acoustic and tough Rock ballad. You think some people have all the luck ? ...Not sure, listen closely to this clever tune and...

This album has an overall Gibson branded perfume I do really like. Very oriented « love » album, good tunes and very well written lyrics. This « La Villa Modesta » was announcing the monster to come. A good introduction to the universe of the Kleejoss Band
